Black Minimal Geometric Necklace, Sphere and Circle

A black statement necklace built from minimal geometry: a sphere, a circle and a stick, the three shapes Lucas Cranach the Elder painted in Melancholy. It is polyamide, hand polished and hand tinted with non-toxic colours, and about 70 cm long. The whole piece is one object, so it arrives complete. A gift for an art historian, a teacher or a student.

Three shapes and nothing else

Sphere, circle, stick. Those are the only forms in the necklace, and all three are lifted from Melancholy by Lucas Cranach the Elder, a painting in the National Gallery of Denmark collection. In it, three cupids work at passing a sphere through a hoop using sticks and never quite get there.

The necklace finishes the job. To wear it you have to put the sphere inside the hoop, so the game in the painting resolves each time it goes on. The design was worked out so the complete piece comes as one object, which is what allows the sphere and the hoop to arrive already joined.

Polyamide, polished and tinted by hand

Polyamide gives a solid object that is resistant and light. After that the piece is hand polished and hand tinted with non-toxic colours. Total length is about 70 cm, or 28 inches. Every item is sent gift-wrapped, ready to be a present.
